Onsite Field Service Engineer- Instrumentation & Electrical

The I&C Field Specialist is responsible for technical direction and safe site leadership of onsite installation, operational maintenance, testing, and startup activities on Gas turbines, Steam Turbines, Compressors, and Generators' electrical & instrumentation systems, in accordance with engineering best practices and contractual work scope requirements. This person will work onsite at a client in the New Orleans region.

Responsibilities of an I&E Field Specialist include:

• Providing technical direction and assistance to customers in operation, maintenance, repair, safe handling, and installation of BKR products.
• Offering on-site guidance and training in operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Troubleshooting protection relays and maintaining gas-insulated switchgear.
• Assisting customers in scheduling maintenance and workload planning to meet established schedules.
• Understanding and maintaining the electrical distribution network, including the EMS system from GE.
• Leading and executing loop checks and commissioning, performing functional tests.
• Leading and executing unit start-up and performance tests, ensuring proper and safe operation, evaluating running parameters, and troubleshooting control system issues as they arise.

Fuel your passion

To succeed in this role, you should:

• Have a degree from an accredited university or college and 4+ years of experience in a field service or maintenance role.
• Be capable of understanding and implementing technical drawings (wiring diagrams, P&ID, General Arrangement, etc.).
• Possess strong knowledge of rotating equipment control philosophy (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors) and their auxiliaries.
• Have a solid understanding of field devices, instruments, and actuators.
• Be familiar with unit control panels (UCP), motor control centers (MCC), DCP, and firefighting system installation and commissioning.
• Experience with medium voltage motors, VFDs, and transformers (MV and HV).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
