Job summary

MindCare Solutions is seeking a Correctional Psychologist to manage clinical and administrative coordination of mental health care for inmates/residents in Reno, NV.

The role requires an active NV license, board certification or eligibility, and NV DEA; you will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide evaluation, treatment, and crisis intervention, while ensuring compliance with regulations and contract terms.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted license in NV.
• Board Certified or Eligible within 1 year of residency completion.
• NV DEA license required.
• Employment contingent upon successful background checks and credentialing.
• Excellent skills in diagnostic assessment and counseling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of incarcerated individuals.
• Create individualized treatment plans including medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions.
• Prepare progress reports; provide discharge recommendations; assist in statistical reports.
• Maintain up-to-date medical records complying with facility policies and state regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of inmates and audit records for service documentation.
• Process and respond to lawsuits; provide expert testimony when needed.
• Read and interpret medical and legal documents relevant to care.
• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and correctional staff for integrated care.
• Provide immediate psychiatric care in crisis situations and prevent incidents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, laws, rules and contract requirements.

Onsite Correctional Psychologist
MindCare Solutions, is a leader in comprehensive mental health solutions in various settings: clinician owned and operated. We are seeking a Correctional Psychologist to manage the operation and provides overall direction and leadership for the provision of the mental health services in the facility. This position has the primary responsibility of providing administrative and clinical coordination for the comprehensive mental health care program for the inmates/residents.
Compensation: negotiable (dependent upon contract type)
Location: Reno, NV
Schedule: P/T or F/T (dayshift)
Position Summary

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health disorders among the incarcerated population.
• Create individualized treatment plans that include medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions appropriate for the correctional setting.
• Prepare progress reports; provide recommendations regarding discharge plans; make case presentations; and assist administrative and medical staff in development of statistical reports on assigned inmates/residents.
• Will maintain up to date medical records, ensuring compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and standards of care
• Maintain and monitor confidentiality of inmates/residents and their files; audit files to determine that all services provided are documented; review status of inmates/residents to verify that all treatment and therapeutic programs are completed.
• Review, process and respond (via corporate counsel) to lawsuits; provide expert testimony or psychiatric evaluations for legal proceedings involving inmates under your care
• Read, analyze, comprehend and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations, legal and non-legal documents, including the processing of such documents as medical instructions, commitment orders, summons and other legal writs.
• Will work closely with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and correctional staff to provide integrated and coordinated care
• Provide immediate psychiatric care in crisis situations, such as suicide attempts or acute psychiatric episodes, and work to prevent incidents through proactive mental health management
• Endeavor to comply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards and/or contract.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted license in the state of NV
• Board Certified or Eligible (within 1 year of residency completion)
• Psychologist with active NV DEA required
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background checks and credentialing. This may include screening in accordance with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) standards, as applicable.
• Have excellent skills in diagnostic assessment and counseling
• This position requires sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and independence
• Valid Driver's License is required
