Job summary

Chart Industries, Inc. in Windsor, CT is seeking an onsite CAD Designer to join the Howden USA Aftermarket division. You will create production-ready 3D models, interpret drawings, and generate BOMs while ensuring tolerances and welding joints meet specifications.

You will apply drafting standards, GD&T and sheet metal detailing in a manufacturing setting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to update legacy designs and resolve design questions on the floor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or Drafting Certificate required.
• Minimum 5 years’ solid modeling experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
• Knowledge of welding processes and welding symbols required.
• Knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5 and drawing standards.
• Sheet metal design/detailing experience and MS Office proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply mechanical design expertise to produce complex layouts and detail drawings for rotating equipment.
• Interpret customer drawings and specifications to design within company capabilities and manufacturing processes.
• Create production-ready 3D CAD models meeting tolerances and joint requirements for robotic welding.
• Prepare BOMs and procurement specs through the ERP system and drawings.
• Update legacy designs to current company standards and assist other departments as needed.
