Job summary

Grace Health in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a Burmese Interpreter to join our onsite team. Starting pay is $18.22+ with experience, with benefits including up to 3 weeks of paid time off in the first year and 8 paid holidays.

This role offers weekends off and requires fluency in Chin Haka, Falam, and Tedim. Responsibilities include interpreting during patient visits, contacting Burmese-speaking patients by phone, and translating forms and materials into Burmese.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in speaking and writing Burmese, as well as English.
• Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and systems.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to record patient information.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Ability to translate Burmese into English and vice versa.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Interprets during patient visits for both patient and provider.
• Contacts Burmese speaking patients by phone to communicate needed information.
• Translates English forms, educational materials and other written materials into the Burmese language.
• Interpreters with Grace Health clinical experience may communicate provider instructions directly to patients and document in the medical record accordingly.
