Job summary

Stone River Recovery Center in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Associate I to join a multidisciplinary treatment team. You will monitor client behaviors, provide continuous care, and respond to crises while assisting in data collection and charting in client records.

Role includes supervising activities, conducting educational groups, and coordinating transportation when needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and various treatment modalities of the population served preferred.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire). First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
• Conducts safety checks and ensures supervision per guidelines.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors, and communicates significant observations to supervisor.
• Encourages attendance at group therapy and promotes client participation in unit activities.
• Facilitates client educational-rehabilitative groups on social skills, coping, and independent living skills.
• Takes and records vital signs and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Charts in client records timely and accurately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation in treatment.
• Assists with unit cleaning, chart organization, discharge process, and filing.
• Transfers or coordinates transportation for clients as required.
• Receives shift reports and provides thorough handoff to oncoming staff.
• Assists new clients with orientation to activities and programs.
• Maintains awareness of client needs and goals, motivating engagement in beneficial activities.
• Organizes equipment and supplies for recreational activities.
• Enforces safety rules and adapts activities for groups.
