Samtec Inc. is seeking an Automation / Machine Design Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced automation systems and production fixtures at our New Albany, IN headquarters.

You will own projects from concept through fabrication, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, safety, and quality on a global scale. The role emphasizes hands-on design, problem solving, and delivering reliable equipment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation machine design or related fields.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks with 3D modeling.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom automation equipment, production machinery, tooling, and fixtures.
• Take projects from concept through fabrication, assembly, testing, and production implementation.
• Create engineering documentation, drawings, and design packages.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Applications Engineering, Controls, Quality, and Operations.
• Ensure safety, OSHA/ANSI compliance in designs.
