Job summary

Seattle University is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide on-site care and management of injuries for student-athletes, with responsibilities that include evaluation, rehabilitation, and collaboration with coaching and medical staff.

The candidate will work with strength and conditioning to implement injury prevention, participate in coverage for home and away contests, and maintain electronic documentation while upholding NCAA and university standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field and two years of athletic training experience.
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association membership and Board of Certification certification.
  • Active qualifying strength and conditioning certification (CSCS or SCCC).
  • Must hold or be eligible for Washington State Athletic Trainer License.
  • Current CPR and First Aid for healthcare providers; instructor training in the future.
  • Adhere to NCAA/WAC rules and other governing bodies; report violations as required.
  • Commitment to Seattle University's diversity and mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
  • Assess risk of injury; perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and wellness promotion.
  • Electronic documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Attend home intercollegiate contests as directed.
  • Provide athletic training coverage for away contests as deemed appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with Strength and Conditioning staff on injury prevention strategies and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs for student-athletes.
  • Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding injury status.
  • Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per sports medicine SOPs.
  • Administrative duties as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine.
