Job summary

Propio Language Services in Hartford, CT is seeking Onsite American Sign Language Interpreters to provide consecutive in-person and virtual interpretation by phone and video. The role requires ASL proficiency with RID/BEI/EIPA credentials, a state license if required, and at least 1 year of interpreting experience.

Candidates must reside in the USA, have reliable transportation, and pass a background check and vaccine documentation requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides consecutive in-person and virtual interpretation by phone and video remote.
• Follows interpreter protocols and confidentiality policies for clients.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and other regulatory requirements.
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with patients, customers and clinicians.
• Continuously improves vocabulary and subject matter knowledge for medical, legal, social services, etc.

We do that by providing both remote and on-site services in more than 350 languages, for over 15,000 clients with a diverse and highly experienced staff, and over 18,000 contract interpreters.

We currently have a need for OnsiteAmerican Sign Language Interpretersin Hartford, CTarea who have a sincere desire to use their language skills to help people and are passionate about what they do.

Contract Responsibilities:

• Provides consecutive in person and virtually both by phone and video remote first-person interpretation.
• Follows interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Propio L.S. clients.
• Follows all Propio L.S. policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and/or regulatory requirements or policies and standards.
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and clinical employees.
• Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge, as required for various clients, such as medical, legal, social services, etc.

Required Qualifications:

• Verification of ASL (American Sign Language) proficiency (Certification)NationalASL (American Sign Language) Certification (RID) and/or EIPA 3.7+ and/or BEI.
• State License or Registration (If the state you reside in requires it).
• 1years of relevant Interpreting Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Intermediate level computer skills
• Must live in the USA
• Submission of updated Resume.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to provide documentation of updated vaccinations to include but not limited to (dependent of location, federal and local regulations and business policies for healthcare and others): TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B (or declination), TDAP and Seasonal Influenza (Flu) and Covid
• Successful completion of a drug test and Background Check & Security Screen.
• A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of interpreting experience.
