Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive in-person and, where needed, virtual interpretation by phone and video.
• Follow interpreter protocols and Propio L.S. policies.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and related policies.
• Establish quality service and positive interactions with patients, clients, visitors and healthcare staff.
• Continuously improve vocabulary and subject matter knowledge for medical, legal, and social services clients.

Onsite American Sign Language Interpreter

Founded in 1998 Propio Language Services provides critical interpreting and translation services that improve the quality of life with the communities we engage in. We do that by providing both remote and on-site services in more than 350 languages, for over 15,000 clients with a diverse and highly experienced staff, and over 18,000 contract interpreters.
Quality interpretation is critical to our shared success, and it is only possible by bringing in the best interpreters in the industry.
We currently have a need for OnsiteAmerican Sign Language Interpretersin Detroit, Michiganarea who have a sincere desire to use their language skills to help people and are passionate about what they do.
Contract Responsibilities:

• Provides consecutive in person and virtually both by phone and video remote first-person interpretation.
• Follows interpreter protocols and procedures as required by Propio L.S. clients.
• Follows all Propio L.S. policies and procedures related to information confidentiality and interpreter ethics.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA and/or regulatory requirements or policies and standards.
• Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and clinical employees.
• Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge, as required for various clients, such as medical, legal, social services, etc.

Required Qualifications:

• Verification of ASL (American Sign Language) proficiency (Certification)NationalASL (American Sign Language) Certification (RID) and/or EIPA 3.7+ and/or BEI.
• State License or Registration (If the state you reside in requires it).
• 1years of relevant Interpreting Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Intermediate level computer skills
• Must live in the USA
• Submission of updated Resume.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Access to reliable transportation
• Ability to provide documentation of updated vaccinations to include but not limited to (dependent of location, federal and local regulations and business policies for healthcare and others): TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B (or declination), TDAP and Seasonal Influenza (Flu) and Covid
• Successful completion of a drug test and Background Check & Security Screen.
• A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of interpreting experience.
