Job summary

Imagine Learning hires for this position throughout the year. The Online Tutor works remotely, delivering 1:1 synchronous tutoring in core subjects and languages to K–12 students.

Base pay is $18.87–$20.50 per hour with potential incentive pay. This is a part-time, home-based role reporting to an Instructional Supervisor. Flexible hours and a fingerprint clearance are required within the first weeks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is required or equivalent
• At least 1 year of K-12 tutoring or teaching experience directly related to duties
• Current teaching certification is preferred
• Proficiency in two or more subject areas (e.g., ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, French)
• Demonstrated growth mindset and strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience teaching or tutoring in blended/online environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 synchronous tutoring via chat, text and audio across grade levels and subjects
• Coach and support students across company platforms
• Deliver high-quality instruction to support conceptual understanding
• Develop and deliver synchronous instruction for targeted interventions
• Collaborate with colleagues to implement instructional best practices
• Attend professional development sessions and complete onboarding program

The Online Tutor serves students in Grades K–12 in core academic subjects, French, or Spanish across company products. The role partners with cross functional teams to deliver high-quality support that meets the diverse needs of students.

This is a regular, part-time, based out of your home office.

Position Information

This is a part-time regular position and reports to an Instructional Supervisor.

Compensation

Base pay is anticipated to be between $18.87 and $20.50 per hour. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

Envision Your Experience

• Provide 1:1 synchronous tutoring through chat, text and audio communication across multiple grade levels and subject areas based on experience and content knowledge.
• Coach and provide content support to students across company platforms.
• Provide high-quality instruction with the goal of supporting conceptual understanding.
• Develop, prepare, and deliver synchronous instruction to students needing targeted interventions.
• Use resources and instructional based best practices to provide effective instruction.
• Self-manage based on team metrics.
• Participate in continuous professional growth activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement instructional best practices.
• Attend and participate in professional development sessions.
• Complete the company and Synchronous Education Services onboarding program including the new hire mentor process.
• Communicate professionally with all stakeholders (students, colleagues, customers) using text, audio and video technologies.
• Other duties as required.

Share Your Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field and at least 1 year of K-12 tutoring or teaching experience directly related to duties; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Current or past teaching certification preferred.
• Bilingual fluency preferred for French/Spanish positions.
• Proficiency in two or more of the following subject areas: Social Studies, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Spanish, or French, as required by the position.
• Demonstrated growth mindset.
• Prior experience teaching or tutoring in a blended or online environment preferred.
• Proficient with the content offerings to support students and grade levels as assigned across the company.
• Highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication problem solving skills.
• Ability to develop creative solutions and provide ideas to effectively assist students.
• Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and at least one online/blended learning platform.
• Must be willing and able to successfully obtain a fingerprint clearance within the first two weeks of employment.
