Job summary

Learner Education is seeking a Science Tutor (Contract) to deliver remote 1-to-1 tutoring across the U.S. and beyond. You can teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and related areas, with a potential to cover Mathematics as a plus.

Set your own schedule and earn $25.00 per hour, with high-quality student referrals and a supportive tutor community. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of professional teaching or tutoring, 1+ year of U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 3 years of professional teaching or tutoring experience
• At least 1 year of relevant U.S. teaching or tutoring experience
• Taught or tutored within the past 2 years
• At least 1 year of online tutoring experience
• Strong understanding of the U.S. curriculum and grading standards
• Ability to tutor Science from 6th grade to college level
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Peak hours availability Mon–Thu 3–10 PM ET; broader availability is a plus
• Fast and reliable internet connection
• Computer or laptop with microphone and camera; stylus recommended

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Science Tutors who can confidently support students from 6th grade through college level. Subjects may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and related areas. Tutors who understand the U.S. curriculum and who can tutor more than one science subject are able to connect with more students.

If you are also comfortable tutoring Math, that is a strong plus and can increase your schedule availability.

Important clarification about experience
TA experience, peer tutoring, grader roles, or lab assistant-only experience do not meet the experience requirements for this role. Applicants must have direct, professional teaching or tutoring experience with students.

To ensure the best experience for students, applicants must meet all requirements listed below.

• Bachelor’s degree

• Tutors with availability during peak hours (Monday through Thursday, 3 to 10 PM ET) can connect with more students. Broader weekday and weekend availability is a plus
• Fast and reliable internet connection
• Computer or laptop with microphone and camera. A stylus pen is highly recommended for clear annotations

Onboarding & Activation Timeline

As we prepare for upcoming seasonal student demand, onboarding and tutor activation will take place on a staggered

schedule based on contract signing date.

• August 15
• August 1 – August 15 contracts → Estimated onboarding begins September 1
• August 15 – September 15 contracts → Estimated onboarding begins September 15

Tutors will receive ongoing communication and updates throughout the waiting period.
