LanguageBird, a premier online language school, seeks German instructors for the 2026-27 school year. This remote role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work with middle and high school students in an ACTFL-aligned curriculum.

Instructors will teach one-on-one sessions via Microsoft Teams, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with families and staff. Evening US time availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience teaching German (online and/or in a school setting).
• Native-like proficiency in German.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
• Familiarity with educational technology and Microsoft Office.

This is a remote online position. German Instructors residing in any country are invited to apply.

Who We Are

We are a premier, accredited online language school seeking passionate German language instructors to join our team for the 2026-27 school year.

We offer Middle School and High School German Levels 1-6+, as well as tutoring, conversational , and test-preparation courses. Our curriculum is ACTFL-aligned, and we are textbook-free.

Rather than relying on traditional textbooks, we use ACTFL Can-Do Statements and real-world communication contexts to guide instruction. Our courses emphasize Project-Based Learning, meaningful communication, and authentic language use. We do not assess students through traditional assessments. Instead, instructors facilitate engaging learning experiences using a variety of digital tools and authentic resources and evaluate student growth through projects, participation, and performance-based assessments.

While we provide syllabi and some , instructional guidance and resources , instructors are encouraged to bring creativity, professional expertise, and instructional flexibility to their lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner.

Requirements

• 1-2+ years of experience teaching German (online and/or in a school setting).
• Native-like proficiency in German.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
• Familiarity with educational technology and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and expectations.
• Evening availability in U.S. time zones (PST preferred).

Instructors residing outside the United States are hired under international contracts, while those legally authorized to work in the United States are hired under U.S.-based contracts. Compensation is determined by teaching experience, education, and other qualifications relevant to the role.

Instructors onboarded for the 2026-2027 school year may begin teaching prior to the official start of the school year.
