Job Summary
Special Education Aide – One‑On‑One (Ojibwa). Supports teacher and student to ensure the best learning experience for special education children in a safe environment while maintaining confidentiality.
Position Details

- Title: SPECIAL ED AIDE – ONE ON ONE
- Location: Ojibwa, Clinton Township, Michigan
- Salary: $17.75 to $18.04 per hour
- Position Type: Full‑time (Non‑exempt)
- Work Hours: 8:55am – 3:40pm, 6.5 hrs/day
- Paygrade: 4
- Effective Date: Fall 2026
Responsibilities
- Assist students individually or in small groups under teacher supervision.
- Help students complete academic tasks and engage in instructional activities such as reading, writing, math, spelling, and life skills.
- Implement behavior management plans, including Crisis Intervention and Prevention training, to monitor, intervene, and redirect student behaviors.
- Support students with personal needs including hygiene, toileting, diapering, and clothing.
- Familiarize with individual student requirements and behavior plans.
- Collect data related to behavior, academics, and instruction.
- Participate in professional development.
- Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions and explain information.
- Work with other school personnel to maintain a secure environment.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Experience working with children (required).
- Experience working with special education students (preferred).
Knowledge
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations (required).
- Working knowledge of computers (preferred).
Skills
- Good communication skills (required).

Physical Demands
Employee must sit, walk, stand for extended periods, run after students, stoop and bend, lift up to 50 pounds, push or pull up to 90 pounds. Must assist with toileting, mobility equipment, and bus transport. Physical strength, agility, dexterity, and mobility are required.
Work Environment
Noise level is moderate to loud.
