Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks qualified individuals to provide at-home instruction to students enrolled in the Home and Hospital Instruction Program in the Boston area. Tutors will be matched to students based on needs and will coordinate with the program coordinator.

Responsibilities include maintaining Scholastic Records, time sheets, and clear communication with families, school staff, and the program office. This stipend position aligns with the BTU contractual rate and hours worked.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Passing MTEL for Communication and Literature or equivalent.
• Experience providing one-on-one tutoring to students.
• Ability to work independently.
• US work authorization by first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly complete Scholastic Records for each student tutored (course name, chapter, unit name, and description).
• Confirm tutoring assignments within 24 hours of receiving initial contact.
• Contact parent/guardian to introduce self and arrange session times and location.
• Provide tutoring schedule to Home and Hospital Instruction Program office.
• Pickup packet from Home and Hospital office and arrange pickup of materials/assignments.
• Tutor student (only) for hours designated by Home and Hospital staff.
• Follow the Home and Hospital Instructor Responsibilities prior to first tutoring assignment.
• Maintain contact with guidance counselor, student support coordinator or SESS coordinator.
• Obtain parent signature on all timesheets after each session.
• Maintain accurate time sheets/attendance and Scholastic Records.
• Communicate unusual tutoring circumstances or needs to Home and Hospital Instruction Program.
