Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to triage callers, assess needs, and guide them to appropriate clinical options. The RN educates patients on immediate healthcare needs and preventative care, while supporting nursing services in a physician office/practice as assigned.

The role aligns with the system's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives. The position requires an accredited nursing degree (associate's), an active Virginia RN license, and BLS CPR

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program, associate's degree in nursing required.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Experience telephone triage experience with multi-provider practice OR 1 year of oncology experience, required.
• 2+ years of oncology experience, Preferred.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to incoming calls requiring nursing assessment/triage and communicat es urgent and non-urgent needs within defined timeframes.
• Refer verbal and/or written inquiries to appropriate resources with complete and accurate information.
• Assist in the coordination of direct patient care and document inquiries for medical, legal, and statistical purposes.
• Maintain confidentiality during all caller interactions and support clinic operations as needed.
• Document all inquiries at the time of the call; monitor medication refrigerator temperatures as required.
