As a member of the Medical Surgical Unit, you will assess and document patient status, administer medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet care goals while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of a variety of medical equipment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to administer medications per policy and procedure.
• Ability to follow the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Ability to interpret lab and diagnostic results as it relates to patient status.
• Ability to communicate with all disciplines using SBAR.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates courteous, caring and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Assesses, evaluates, interprets, and documents patients' physical and mental status.
• Identifies patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and significant others.
• Promotes patient independence by teaching patients and families about condition, medications, and self-care.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and documents actions in the EMR.
• Keeps professional knowledge current by attending workshops and reviews.
• Completes annual competency and regulatory education.
