Descripción de la vacante

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s dos Santos laboratory in the Oncology department seeks an Associate Scientist or Scientist to lead animal-model and organoid-based cancer research.

The role involves independent project management, experimental design, data analysis, and ensuring high reproducibility and animal welfare. The candidate will work with the PI, trainees, and shared-resource teams to advance studies on cancer initiation, epithelial–stromal interactions, and systemic risk

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, biomedical sciences, or related field is required.
  • PhD or equivalent doctoral degree strongly preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Design, coordinate, and execute studies using engineered, syngeneic, transplantation, and treatment-based mouse models of mammary gland biology and breast cancer.
  • Manage mouse breeding strategies, cohort generation, genotyping plans, randomization, and longitudinal monitoring.
  • Perform or supervise animal procedures and tissue collection.
  • Develop and maintain detailed experimental timelines and animal-cohort records.
  • Assist with IACUC protocol preparation and amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare policies, biosafety requirements, and approved procedures.
  • Train laboratory personnel in relevant animal procedures and confirm competency.
  • Establish and optimize primary mammary epithelial and tumor organoid cultures from mouse and human samples.
  • Design organoid assays evaluating growth, differentiation, and drug response.
  • Develop co-culture systems with fibroblasts, immune cells, and ECM components.
  • Perform organoid-forming, invasion, and viability assays.
  • Conduct molecular and cellular assays: flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, IHC, microscopy, qPCR, ELISA.
  • Support preparation of bulk and single-cell sequencing and spatial profiling samples.
