Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking an experienced Pharmacist Leader to supervise pharmacy operations and ensure safe, effective care across community sites. You will hire and develop staff, shape policies, and drive quality and compliance initiatives.

The role requires a PharmD, a Washington license, and 4+ years of pharmacist experience with leadership capabilities. A strong emphasis on collaboration, safety and professional growth is essential.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
  • 4 years of experience as a Pharmacist or 2 years as a Lead Pharmacist or in an equivalent supervisory capacity.
  • State of Washington Pharmacist License is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Proven project management skills and committee experience are expected.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (EMR, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work under pressure related to work/time deadlines and to provide feedback about staff performance.
  • Strong teaching ability and the ability to lead committees.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and workflow oversight to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel to ensure safe, effective, and efficient pharmacy services.
  • Hire, train, coach, support, develop, discipline, and evaluate pharmacy personnel to promote engagement, accountability, high performance, and professional growth.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures to support safe and compliant pharmacy practice.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, ensuring ongoing operational readiness.
  • Lead and support quality assurance, quality improvement, medication safety, and error prevention initiatives, including review and follow-up of safety events and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, multidisciplinary teams, and organizational committees to support departmental objectives, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate departmental goals, operational priorities, performance expectations, and key updates to staff while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence.

Provides direct supervision of pharmacy personnel and oversees day-to-day pharmacy operations to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and compliant patient care services. This is a Full Time (40 Hours) role that will provide support to our Community Site Locations.

PreEmployment Drug Screening:As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $172,910.00 to $288,142.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This is a Full Time (40 Hours) role that will provide support to our Community Site Locations. Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
