Job summary

Riceland Healthcare System in Beaumont, TX seeks an Oncology Pharmacist to design and lead a new outpatient oncology program. You will build compounding operations, order verification standards, and EMR-based regimen tools, working closely with oncologists and infusion nursing staff.

Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. degree from ACPE-accredited college/school of pharmacy.
  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in Texas or eligible before employment.
  • Minimum of two years of oncology/infusion/acute care clinical pharmacist experience.
  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care, and hazardous drug handling.
  • Experience with EMR and pharmacy information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify chemotherapy and related therapy orders for accuracy and protocol compliance.
  • Evaluate patient-specific factors including diagnosis, BSA, labs, renal/hepatic function, allergies and performance status.
  • Ensure treatment plans align with NCCN guidelines and institutional protocols.
  • Recommend dose modifications and monitor effectiveness, adverse reactions, and toxicities.
  • Oversee sterile compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics and IV meds.
  • Educate patients and caregivers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Position Overview

Build an oncology pharmacy operation, don't inherit one.

Riceland Cancer Center is opening a new medical oncology and infusion program in Beaumont, and we’re hiring our first oncology pharmacist.This person won’t step into an existing workflow they’ll design it. Compounding operations, order verification standards, regimen and order set build in the EMR, formulary, inventory, and safety protocols all get established by whoever takes this role. If you’ve wanted ownership of a program rather than a shift, this is that seat.You’ll work directly with our medical oncologist, oncology nurse practitioner, and infusion nursing team in a small, focused outpatient center where your clinical judgment carries real weight.

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing and verifying chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, supportive care medications, and oral oncolytics while promoting medication safety, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care.

Clinical Pharmacy Services
  • Review and verify chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hematology, and supportive care medication orders for clinical accuracy and protocol compliance.
  • Evaluate patient-specific factors including diagnosis, body surface area (BSA), laboratory values, renal/hepatic function, allergies, and performance status.
  • Ensure treatment plans align with current NCCN guidelines, institutional protocols, and evidence-based practice.
  • Recommend dose modifications and monitor medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and toxicities.
Operations & Safety
  • Perform and oversee the sterile compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics, and supportive IV medications.
  • Maintain safe handling, storage, preparation, labeling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous medications.
  • Monitor medication inventory, expiration dates, storage conditions, and drug shortages to ensure uninterrupted care.
Patient Care & Education
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment regimens, side effects, oral chemotherapy administration, and adherence strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide evidence-based drug information to healthcare providers.
  • Assist in the management of infusion-related reactions and medication-related emergencies.
Quality Improvement & Support
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives, quality improvement projects, and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain standardized oncology treatment plans, order sets, and dosing tools within the EMR.
  • Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited college/school of pharmacy.
  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Texas (or eligible prior to employment).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacist experience in oncology, infusion services, or acute care clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care, and hazardous drug handling.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and pharmacy information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
  • Previous outpatient oncology or infusion center experience.
