Job summary

Avera Oncology & Hematology Aberdeen is seeking a Registration Clerk to welcome patients, verify demographics and insurance, and register visits in the clinic system. This role supports access to care and coordinates with the care team in the Cancer Institute.

Hours are Mon-Thu 8-5 and Fri 8-Noon. PTO from day 1, retirement matching, and mentorship are offered. The successful candidate will communicate clearly, maintain confidentiality, and help patients navigate services.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work the hours specified (Day shift, Mon-Thu 8-5, Fri 8-Noon).
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Visual acuity to perform duties and access records.
  • Ability to work with patients and teams and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients, checks them in, and completes registration including demographics, insurance, and service payments.
  • Verifications, authorizations, and obtaining signed consent/waivers as appropriate.
  • Scan pertinent information into the patient’s record.
  • Answer calls/messages/faxes and route to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Maintain computer appointment scheduling and follow scheduling policies.
  • Expedite delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time.
  • Serve patients as a friendly, efficient public relations agent for physicians.
  • Direct patients to ancillary services as needed.
