AbbVie Oncology is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Educator to proactively educate allied healthcare professionals on product and disease education, with a focus on patient management and support throughout treatment. This field-based role requires travel and collaboration with multiple internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in oncology/hematology, a nursing-based degree, and strong communication and presentation skills to support education initiatives and clinical insights

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent clinical education.
  • Current active health care professional license.
  • 7+ years oncology/hematology experience; recent hematology focus preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

Responsabilités

  • Provide education to allied health care professionals on product use and disease state.
  • Develop customized educational plans based on account dynamics and clinical insights.
  • Educate on dosing, administration, adverse events, and patient management protocols.
  • Deliver education through 1:1 sessions, in-services, round-table discussions, and podium presentations.
  • Collaborate with field teams across sales, marketing, and medical to optimize education efforts.

The Oncology Nurse Educator (ONE) will be responsible for proactively engaging with allied healthcare professionals to provide product and disease education, in support of before, during and after patient management on approved therapies. The ONE will focus on providing ongoing education and resources related to patient management, dosing and administration, and side effect management. The ONE will collaborate with other field teams within ways of working guidelines to ensure education support for allied healthcare clinicians.

This role is field-based, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary state. The states included in the territory are:San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, surrounding areas of CA, and Reno NV

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic education leader across academic and community oncology accounts by way of:
    • Proactive and reactive education with approved resources to allied health care professionals and patient care team members.
    • Develops a customized educational plan through the analysis of account dynamics and clinical insights that meet the patient care team’s needs and clinical challenges.
    • Educate allied health care clinicians on appropriate patient identification and role of approved therapies for treatment of hematologic and solid tumor malignancies.
    • Educate on the preparation and administration requirements of approved products; and adverse event mitigation, monitoring, and management.
    • Educate patient care teams about initiation and managing patients per protocols associated with the product.
    • Interpret and communicate relevant clinical education topics to diverse audiences as per materials approved for the role.
    • Educate on disease state awareness, including clinical and operational aspects of appropriate patient diagnosis and management.
    • Provide education programs through 1:1 presentations/in-services and other methods expressly approved, which may include round-table discussions, and podium presentations.
  • Utilize strategic questioning and active listening to routinely document and share clinical insights.
  • Attend and provide clinical information and/or presentations at internal national, regional, and local meetings.
  • Provide staff support as appropriate at exhibit booths and displays.
  • Provide support to enhance training initiatives clinically and improve the clinical competencies of the internal sales team.
  • As deemed appropriate, collaborates across internal functional areas as it relates to the Oncology business (e.g., sales, marketing, clinical operations, medical, clinical value & evidence)
  • Potentially provide education to patients in patient advocacy meeting settings using materials and messaging tailored and approved for use with such an audience.
  • Document customer interactions and educational activities and manage allocated resources.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, NP, PA or PharmD required
    • Master’s degree preferred
  • Current active HCP license
  • 7+ years clinical oncology/hematology experience. Recent clinical Hematology experience required; recent multiple myeloma preferred
  • Experience in academic and/or community oncology practice working with Hematology/Oncology patients.
  • Passion for patients is essential
  • Excellent communication(s), objective setting, influencing, business acumen, analytical and strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience adapting to change and embracing learning
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting clinical and pharmacoeconomic data
  • Recognizes evolving shifts in oncology market trends and respective effects on provider and patient
  • Success operating within a cross-functional team
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work autonomously with efficient time management
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other relevant applications
  • The individual must be able to travel 50% of the time, including the ability to travel overnight and occasionally on weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have needed authorization and ability to drive a Company leased vehicle or rental.
