Job summary

CommonSpirit Health, through CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group, seeks a Medical Director to guide medical staff and align physician groups with organizational strategy. You will oversee patient care quality, resource utilization, and QA programs, while leading clinical meetings, credentialing reviews, and performance improvement initiatives across centers in Kentucky.

This leadership role requires MD/DO, board certification, active Kentucky license, and experience with oncology/hematology workflows

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology.
• Active Medical License in the State of Kentucky or ability to obtain prior to employment.
• DEA certificate.
• Completion of ACGME Residency and Fellowship in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the clinical performance of physicians practicing in the centers and participates in their selection and performance evaluation.
• Develops agendas with the Clinic Director and conducts staff meetings.
• Meets with Physicians/Medical Staff to review patient care issues/concerns.
• Ensures the use of appropriate equipment and technology.
• Coordinates the implementation of protocols.
• Reviews patient care and utilization of program services.
• Oversees the quality of the program daily.
• Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities to improve quality of care and cost-effectiveness.
• Designs and implements medical QA programs for services.
• Participates in hospital and Medical Staff QA activities and committees.
• Ensures credential evaluation of all physicians with privileges in the centers.
• Troubleshoots patient care problems related to physicians/providers decisions.
• Promotes positive relations with other clinical departments and Medical Staff.
• Ensures medical records and test results are completed timely.
• Encourages or participates in clinical research and publishing findings.
• Contributes to development of educational programs to maintain clinical knowledge.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Director, you will guide and direct medical staff, fostering collaboration and strategic alignment within physician groups.

• Supervises the clinical performance of other physicians practicing in the centers and participates in their selection and performance evaluation. Provides assistance in the recruitment of new providers.


• Develops agendas in conjunction with the Clinic Director and conducts effective staff meetings as required.


• Meets with the Physicians/Medical Staff to review patient care issues/concerns as needed.


• Ensures the use of appropriate equipment and technology.


• Coordinates the implementation of protocols.


• Reviews patients served by the program for the appropriateness of treatment and to assure appropriate utilization of program services.


• Oversees the quality of the program on a daily basis.


• Participates in and identifies performance improvement activities to improve quality of care, promote excellent patient outcomes, and provide a cost-effective environment for patient care.


• Designs and implements medical QA programs for services.


• Actively participates in hospital and Medical Staff QA activities and committees.


• Ensures credential evaluation of all physicians with privileges in the centers.


• Troubleshoots/resolves patient care problems in the centers relating to physicians'/providers/ decisions.


• Works actively to promote positive relations with other clinical departments, committees, and the Medical Staff at large.


• Ensures medical records and test results of patients are completed in a timely fashion to meet clinic, Hospital and Medical Staff requirements.


• Encourages, conducts or participates in appropriate clinical research and the publishing of findings.


• Participates in the development of specific educational programs to maintain clinical knowledge of attending Medical Staff and the Clinical Staff service.Planning and Development


• Financial Management


• Provides assistance to the Clinic Director in defining an appropriate capital budget and in developing, securing, and managing an appropriate operating budget.


• Works actively to achieve financial performance objectives of the centers by working with the Clinic Director in managing operating and capital budgets, by assisting in designing and implementing cost management strategies, and by participating in appropriate Medical Staff utilization review activities. Report data required for management and medical care decisions.

Job Requirements

Required

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution


• Board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology


• Active Medical License in the State of Kentucky, or ability to obtain prior to employment


• DEA certificate


• Completion of ACGME Residency and Fellowship in Medical Oncology or Hematology Oncology

Pay Range

$392,403 - $739,318 /year
