Job summary

Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, seeks an RN for Oncology/Medical-Surgical care on a full-time night shift (12-hour). You will deliver patient-centered oncology and medical-surgical care, assess patients, administer therapies, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan individualized care and discharge instructions.

Required: CT RN license, active BLS/CPR, and at least 1 year acute inpatient experience. BSN and chemotherapy certification are preferred within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Connecticut RN license.
• Minimum of one year of acute care inpatient nursing experience.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology and medical-surgical patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, recognize changes in clinical status, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and oncology treatments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Manage symptoms related to cancer treatment, chronic illness, and acute medical conditions while promoting patient comfort and safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, and case managers to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, symptom management, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation while adhering to quality, safety, and infection prevention standards.
