Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy.
  • MA Pharmacist License.
  • 3+ years in a clinical pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge and informatics experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Clinical Informatics Coordinator, Pharmacy will serve as a liaison between BIDMC Pharmacy and both system and local entities to implement electronic health record (EHR) clinical decision support that advances clinical, safety, and quality goals across BIDMC While working closely with BIDMC IT System and multidisciplinary stakeholder colleagues throughout the system, this individual will develop, monitor, and optimize the clinical elements of medication-centered builds and enhancements in BIDMC’s EHR. This role will leverage clinical pharmacy and informatics expertise to support optimal patient outcomes by ensuring that elements of evidence-based medicine, medication safety, and fiscal stewardship are consistently incorporated into the EHR. Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partners with BIDMC Pharmacy and BIDMC IT System Services to ensure that requests for new medication builds or existing build revisions are vetted appropriately to promote best practices and patient safety.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to prioritize medication-related requests according to level of urgency and potential patient impact.
  • Serves as a member of multidisciplinary committees to advise on and develop clinical decision support functionalities that ensure BIDMC initiatives are successfully implemented in the EHR.
  • Collaborates with pharmacist, physician, and nurse stakeholders across the BIDMC system, along with IT System Services analysts, for the clinical and medication safety elements of medication builds.
  • Provides input on the development of, and executes, both medication build and validation standards to ensure accuracy and completeness of new medication records, order sets/panels, therapy/treatment plans, alerts, and other pharmacy-relevant functionalities.
  • Ensures appropriate levels of operational workflow consideration and testing of all applications integrated with the EHR are evaluated prior to the implementation of EHR changes.
  • Collaborates with ASAP, Beacon, Willow, and other analyst colleagues to document and monitor the progress of medication-related requests from submission to production.
  • Ensures that medication-related builds are in compliance with recognized regulatory and pharmacy practice standards.
  • Participates in annual system-wide testing for Hospital Safety Grading (LEAPFROG) for institutions across the system.
  • Provides EHR-related education and training to end users and assists with precepting pharmacy students and/or residents.
Required Qualifications
  • 1. Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy.
  • 2. MA Pharmacist License.
  • 3. At least 3 years practice experience in a clinical area of focus preferred.
  • 4. Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge.
  • 5. Strong informatics knowledge as it pertains to systems, interfaces, and testing.
  • 6. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • 7. Ability to apply knowledge of medication and patient safety to clinical informatics.
  • 8. Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, presentation, customer service, and computer skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1. Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification in Pharmacotherapy or specialty area of practice.
  • 2. Formal training or deemed experience in informatics.
  • 3. Epic ASAP, Willow, Beacon, and/or Clarify proficiency, with appropriate certification(s) as determined by manager within 18 months of hire.
  • 4. Residency training.
  • 5. Experience as a member of interdisciplinary committees.

Pay Range: $63.12 USD - $84.96 USD. The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
