Job summary

AstraZeneca's Oncology Targeted Discovery (OTD) Chemistry team in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA offers a hands-on summer internship in Oncology Research & Development. You will contribute to a short-term project supporting capability build and key business initiatives, working with experienced scientists to design and develop novel molecules for oncology drug discovery.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student who is a Rising Junior (graduating 2029) or Rising Senior (graduating 2028).
• Pursuing a degree in Chemistry (preferred) or Biochemistry.
• Completion of Organic Chemistry I and II lecture courses and the accompanying Organic Chemistry Laboratory coursework.
• US Work Authorization is required at the time of application. Applicants must have work authorization that does not require future sponsorship.
• This role will not be granted OPT support.
• Ability to report on site to Cambridge, MA 5 days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

• Work in the laboratory to synthesize and purify novel molecules and use analytical techniques to characterize them.
• Embed with the Separation Sciences team and learn chiral and achiral purification techniques using SFC and HPLC instruments.
• Use computational and data analysis tools to design, evaluate, and triage molecule design ideas.
