Job summary

Three Bears Alaska is seeking an Onboarding Specialist to oversee the full hiring lifecycle from resume review to offer. You will be the face of the company for new hires, building relationships and ensuring a welcoming onboarding experience.

The role requires strong communication, initiative, and the ability to develop sourcing strategies across departments, while adhering to employment laws and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing all phases of recruitment and onboarding.
  • Experience as onboarding specialist or HR-related role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for new hires throughout onboarding.
  • Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and assist with new hire paperwork and background checks.
  • Coordinate hiring processes and extend offers; ensure compliance and scheduling.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and candidate pipelines across multiple roles.
  • Maintain strong relationships with applicants and external partners.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all new hires, ensuring a positive and welcoming onboarding experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective negotiation tactics.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment across various roles.
  • Proactive with strong independent judgment and initiative.
  • Develop and interpret company-wide policies related to recruiting.
  • Make informed decisions regarding hiring, including reviewing applications, selecting candidates, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure the full-cycle recruitment process—including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring for all departments—runs smoothly and accurately.
  • Analyze recruitment metrics and performance data to improve processes and enhance future hiring decisions.
  • Utilize creative methods to develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies to attract and hire high-quality candidates for various roles.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external recruitment agencies, job boards, and relevant networks.
  • Ensure familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices related to hiring and recruitment.
  • Proficient in or able to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • At least two years managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred.
  • Experience as an onboarding specialist or a similar role in Human Resources.

Working Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Walking from place to place within the office; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 2 hours; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds such as small office equipment, files, stacks of paper, reference, and other materials.
