Job summary

PBSGC Marine Group is seeking a dynamic hydrographic surveyor to operate and maintain a survey vessel, perform hydrographic surveys, and coordinate with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along the Mississippi River and tributaries.

The role includes rigorous safety practices and daily reporting in a challenging riverine environment. Ideal candidates will have strong navigation, math, and communication skills, with experience in marine surveying and proficiency in Hypack and RMS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years hydrographic surveying experience preferred.
• 2-year degree in computer science or related field considered a plus.
• Degree or certification in surveying advantageous.
• Experience operating survey boats highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate GPS, ladder sensor, and hydrographic sounding devices.
• Perform calibration checks and monitor equipment.
• Manage survey vessel, equipment and electronics.
• Proficiently use Hypack and RMS software.
• Coordinate with COE for dredging orders and information.
• Prepare daily reports and other required communications.
• Maintain knowledge of project plans and specifications.
• Uphold the highest level of safety and promote safe practices.
• Support team learning and development.
• Serve as an alternate SSHO when needed.
