Job summary

Equipment Depot Inc. seeks a skilled field service technician to operate, repair, and maintain large diesel industrial lift trucks on customer sites in Kentucky.

You will read work orders, diagnose issues, provide repair estimates, document work, and ensure safety and quality as you travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with heavy equipment.
  • Experience with heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and operates heavy equipment on-site at customer locations.
  • Reads work orders and observes trucks to diagnose problems.
  • Records complete repair descriptions on work orders with model, serial number and hour meter readings.
  • Communicates repair needs to customers and documents work performed.
  • Examines guards, bolts and safety devices and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and verifies repairs by test-driving the equipment.
  • Represents Equipment Depot professionally and maintains clean service trucks.
  • Submits time cards daily and passes on-site random drug tests as required.

POSITION SUMMARYOperates, repairs and maintains large, high capacity diesel industrial lift trucks on-site at a customer-specific location.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSReasonable Accommodations StatementTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Functions Statement(s)Repairs and operates heavy equipmentReads work order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction/diagnose problem(s)Offers solutions to meet customer specifications; provide estimates when appropriate.Makes mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown has been completed.Records complete repair description on work order, including the correct model and the serial number of equipment and record hour meter reading.Communicates with the customer on repair needs, or work that was completed.Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and makes adjustments.Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.Represents Equipment Depot to customers. Maintains professional image of self and cleanliness (externally and internally) of service trucks at all times.Tracks and schedules with operations, or service manager when service truck is due for routine maintenance or has other service-related issues.Works in a manner that protects customers, Equipment Depot, and the public.Returns complete and legible paperwork to field service coordinator daily. Includes work orders, sublet invoices, etc.Submits time cards daily as directed by the supervisor.Must be able to pass frequent on-site random drug test as requiredSKILLS & ABILITIESEducation: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience with industry or heavy equipment and/or combination of education and experience. Heavy equipment experience is preferred.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of internet software.Certificates & Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license and a company insurable driving record. Must have the ability to pass and maintain OSHA 10 course certificate and site-specific training.Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
