Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an entry-level Safety and Health Associate in Harriman, TN. The role supports the company’s safety procedures, performs first aid tasks as needed, and helps maintain a safe site with strong safety leadership.

You will assist with daily safety planning, incident prevention, and routine inspections, gaining hands-on experience across field teams. Qualified candidates have at least 2 years in construction, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in a construction environment; strong safety background preferred
• Leadership abilities and organizational skills, including ability to train employees
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Lead and support safety-related processes and programs as requested
• Engage with work team to achieve zero injuries
• Use stop-work authority to resolve safety issues
• Assist daily pre-job safety planning and field coordination
• Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate risks
• Monitor safety hazards, alertness to warning devices, and proper responses
• Train, implement and enforce lockout/tag out procedures
• Maintain safety rules and a clean, safe work environment
• Communicate effectively with team and supervisor about safety concerns
• Assist with drug and alcohol screening as required by policy
• Conduct safety and health training and assist in onboarding new professionals
• Perform site safety inspections and ensure PPE compliance and equipment readiness
• Assist with accident investigations and follow through on corrective actions
• Conduct toolbox talks and communicate safety plans to crews
• Observe equipment operations for hazards and ensure proper maintenance
• Comply with Code of Conduct and site policies
• Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor
