Job summary

Knife River is seeking a Safety and Environmental Resources Coordinator to support site safety programs, environmental reporting, and required training. This hourly role reports to the Site Operations Manager, with additional accountability to the KRPI Safety and Environmental Manager.

The position emphasizes hands-on follow-through, conducting inspections, root-cause analysis, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance across the plant, yard, shop, and production areas.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of safety, environmental, manufacturing, or construction experience.
• Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
• Must have, or obtain OSHA 10 within four weeks of start date
• Must have, or obtain OSHA 30 within twelve weeks of start date
• Experience conducting inspections, audits, or incident investigations.
• Strong communication and training skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry/reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Support KRPI and Knife River safety and environmental improvement plans.
• Manage site-level safety program activities, training logs, program owners, and awareness-level training.
• Maintain strong presence in plant, yard, shop, and production areas to identify hazards, coach safe behavior, and reinforce expectations.
• Support required training, including new-hire orientation, incident response, and assigned program training.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, facilitate root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Track KR Cares Cards, trends, compliance gaps, and follow up actions.
• Support OSHA, state, local, environmental, permit, stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention, and company compliance.
• Coordinate environmental reporting with Knife River's Environmental, Permitting & Property Manager.
