Job summary

The LiRo Group in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to act as the on-site representative for construction management, ensuring compliance with design, schedule, and budget. The role requires coordinating with designers, contractors, inspectors, and clients, overseeing daily activities, reviewing submittals, maintaining documentation, enforcing safety, and supporting project meetings.

Qualifications

• NJ Professional Engineer license is required.
• NJDOT experience is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision, site engineering, or resident engineering.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Experience on highway, bridge and/or rail projects.
• Working knowledge of shop drawing review, scheduling, permitting and inspection requirements.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s on-site representative during construction.
• Monitor daily construction activities for QA and compliance with specs and codes.
• Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, inspectors, and program staff.
• Conduct regular site inspections and lead field meetings.
• Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress payments.
• Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, logs, as-builts, photographs and correspondence.
• Identify and mitigate construction-related risks or delays; escalate issues when necessary.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare status reports for senior management.
• Ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory compliance on-site.
• Contract Administration and cost monitoring with Project Manager/Billing.
• Collaborate across teams to support program delivery.
