Job Overview

You have come to the right place! TELUS International is looking for Ph.D. experts in the field of biology in genetics, virology, and/or microbiology.

Responsibilities

To help us better understand the risks from biology‑related capabilities in search and language models, we are asking participants to help us probe the frontiers of these tools. Candidates will interact with a new AI chatbot during the research study. The task is estimated to take six hours in total, the first hour is for the introduction and delivery of instructions, and 5 hours for engaging with the chatbot. Participants will be provided refreshments during the duration of the task.

Project Details

• Duration: 6 hours
• Location: On‑Site (Los Angeles and/or South Bay area, CA, Boston and Washington, D.C.)
• Project dates: 04.16.2024, 04.18.2024, 04.19.2024, and 04.20.2024

Compensation

USD 600 per session.

Requirements

• 18+ years of age
• English proficiency
• U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents with a valid permanent resident card or U.S. registered refugees (student visas are not eligible)
• Be able to commute to the specified on‑site location
• Attained Ph.D. in biology in genetics, virology, and/or microbiology (will need to prove with an attached Ph.D. degree certificate)
• At least one year of hands‑on professional experience in the wet lab (e.g., pipetting, growing cell cultures, running gels, etc.)
• At least one year of biosecurity experience (e.g., worked in national security or U.S. Department of Defense setting or with a government contractor on biosecurity work, including bioweapons, pandemic preparedness, biodefense, dual‑use synthetic biology, etc.) and/or academic experience.
• Qualified participants may have experience working for government agencies or contractors (e.g., Batelle, Deloitte, SecureBio, Helena) or academic exposure (e.g., Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, MIT Kevin Esvelt lab).
• Participate only once for the study
• Successfully passed background check

Referral Program

Refer an eligible participant and earn $40 for each person who completes the project. You do not need to be a participant to refer. To qualify, your referral must indicate your name/email on their registration form and note “I was referred by someone” under how they heard about the opportunity.
