Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Lexington, KY is seeking a Cast Technician to support physicians in applying, maintaining and removing casts, traction, and Ilizarov devices. The role involves informing patients and families about use and care, and coordinating supplies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ years Orthopedic Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician.
• Performs casting, traction and Ilizarov services under the direction of an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention.
• Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient care.
