Job summary

Inertia, based in Livermore, is building the world’s largest laser to enable fusion power. We are seeking an Optics Manufacturing Development Engineer to scale up optical components—from laser glass and optics to micro lens arrays—to production volume.

You will evaluate supplier feasibility, bring up pilot production, establish manufacturing best practices, and work with quality engineering on production quality control, reporting to the VP of Industrial Engineering.

Qualifications

• B.S. with 10 years experience or M.S. with 7 years experience.
• Experience with glass and ceramic fabrication processes is required.
• High-volume manufacturing development experience is required.
• Experience with production quality control is required.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate design requirements for vendor engagement.
• Engage suppliers for feasibility, scale, and cost deep dives.
• Establish manufacturing best practices.
• Collaborate with quality engineering to implement production quality control.
• Yield analysis and failure analysis.
