AppleOne seeks an Advisory Software Engineer for an on-site, contract-to-hire role in Boulder, CO. You will design, code, and test print-related software on mainframe platforms with a strong focus on quality, documentation, and long-term system reliability.

The role emphasizes process-driven development within a collaborative team, expanding expertise in z/OS, Assembler, PL/1, and related technologies under seasoned engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 6 to 10 years of software engineering experience preferred for this advisory-level role.
• Minimum 12 months of hands-on experience with mainframe platforms.
• Experience with Assembler language, C++ development, JCL, MVS/SP, and PL/1.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, debug, and maintain complex print-related software applications on mainframe platforms.
• Investigate system issues, trace defects to root causes, and implement reliable software fixes.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to system architecture, application enhancements, and technical improvements.
• Provide technical guidance to team members on complex software challenges and mainframe development practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve development tools, workflows, processes, and overall engineering productivity.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation for systems, workflows, design decisions, and code changes.
