Job summary

RMC - Resource Management Concepts Inc. in Indian Head, MD seeks a Library Technician to support our Navy customer and manage cataloging, database tasks, and bulk digitization using SirsiDynix EOS.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Management, or other relevant field.
• At least two years of experience performing tasks in a technical library operations.
• Typing speed of 35 WPM.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required to start.

Responsibilities

• Conduct catalog data entry and collection maintenance using SirsiDynix's EOS or other comparable library information system.
• Complete and file material control sheets and renew items on request.
• Circulate documents into and out of the library using library database software.
• Perform queries using library database software, searching by title, call number, serial number, personal or corporate author, etc.
• Perform classification regrade actions on database records and physical documents.
• Digitize books and other bound materials using dedicated book scanning equipment.
• Convert outdated/obsolete disk, audiovisual, and other media to current or usable formats.
• Identify documents to be scanned, prepare them for scanning, and process and catalog new documents.
• Perform vault collection maintenance tasks as required (shelf shifting, bulk destruction, etc.).
• Retrieve documents for library users, re-shelve documents, and search for documents not in place.
• Monitor library personnel and activity to ensure compliance with security protocols and verify user clearances.
