Job summary

Prisma International, Inc. (Prisma) is seeking qualified interpreters to join as Independent Contractors for on-site interpretation in Thurston County, Washington.

Opportunities may include over-the-phone and video remote assignments. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of on-site interpreting experience, 2 professional references, 18+ years old, a Washington residency, fluency in English and a target language, and accreditation such as LTC, ATA, or higher education credentials.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of on-site interpreting experience (consecutive or simultaneous).
• Two professional references for on-site interpretation work.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Must reside in Washington state.
• Fluent in English and target language(s).
• Accreditations: LTC, ATA, or accredited via higher education.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between government representatives and LEP speakers.
• Use polite language, clear enunciation, and high customer service standards.
• Convey concepts accurately between speakers and LEP.
• Maintain grammar, clarity, and tone between languages.
• Follow speakers’ directions and manage conversation flow; interject for clarification when needed.
• Avoid side conversations and disputes with customers or LEP; adhere to ethics and standards.
• Leverage experience in healthcare, legal, medical, government or court settings.
