Job summary

Vexterra Group is seeking a mid‑career Systems Engineer to design, develop, and optimize GPU clusters for IC customers in Bethesda. This on-site, full-time role focuses on Linux-based HPC and GPU environments, tooling, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities include installation, benchmarking, and documentation of GPU/ HPC systems, with strong emphasis on power efficiency and industry insight. DoD IAT certifications and TS/SCI clearance are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant systems engineering experience.
• Expertise in operating system integration for Linux.
• Strong hardware knowledge for Linux systems.
• Knowledge of parallel computing, graphics algorithms, and real-time rendering in Linux environments.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python or BASH.
• Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Terraform, etc.
• DoD 8570.11-IAT Level II/III certifications required.
• TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• HPC and GPU environment engineering: install and maintain GPU and HPC hardware on‑prem and cloud.
• Analyze HPC/GPU cluster performance and optimize across applications in Linux.
• HPC/GPU tooling: install and configure Slurm, PBS, Airflow, Kubernetes for workloads.
• Power efficiency: optimize GPU power consumption on Linux platforms.
• Testing and validation: design tests, run benchmarks, debug GPU performance.
• Documentation: maintain architectural specs and Linux GPU development best practices.
• Industry insight: track GPU trends and contribute Linux-focused optimization research.
