Job summary

TACOM is seeking a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of power generation and support equipment, including generators and associated electrical/mechanical systems, to support TACOM maintenance, logistics, and operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred.
• Typically 3–5 years of experience maintaining or repairing power generation or electrical/mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of diesel engines, generators, and electrical distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using diagnostic and electrical test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on power generation equipment (e.g., diesel generators, auxiliary power units).
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in power systems and related components.
• Repair or replace engines, alternators, control systems, wiring, and associated components.
• Perform load testing and functional verification of generators and power systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to troubleshoot system issues.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, test results, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Properly use PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Coordinate with supervisors, electricians, and maintenance personnel regarding system status and repairs
