Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren Division team in Dahlgren, VA.

You will design and execute automated and manual tests, ensure traceability to requirements, and collaborate with developers and government customers on defense software projects. The role requires a BS in applied math or physics, 1+ years of software testing experience, and a willingness to work on-site five days a week.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics in engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education.
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
  • Experience using Linux systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
  • Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface directly with government customers daily and present technical testing documentation.
