Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, recreation, social work, or related field (required)
• Prior experience working with children and youth in a school or community-based setting, with experience in program coordination or supervision preferred
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling sensitive information
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as needed
• Maintain composure under pressure while handling common inquiries, complaints, or identifying emergent situations
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive program schedule and activity plan that aligns with the needs and interests of students, incorporating elements of academic support, recreations, enrichment, and social-emotional learning
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and community partners to integrate program activities with school-day curriculum goals and priorities
• Evaluate program effectiveness, gather feedback from stakeholders, and make adjustments as needed to enhance program quality and relevance
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising program staff, including activity leaders, assistants, and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities as needed
• Establish clear expectations, roles, and responsibilities for staff members, and monitor performance to ensure compliance and program policies, procedures, and safety protocols
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting collaboration, communication, and mutual respect among staff members
• Serves as acting lead for center operations when the Site Director or Assistant Site Director is unavailable
• May be assigned to assist teaching staff in order to maintain required staff-to-child ratios
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment for students, fostering positive relationships, peer connections, and a sense of belonging within the program
• Facilitate structured activities, games, projects, and group discussions to promote academic enrichment, skill development, and social interaction among participants
• Provide individualized support and guidance to students as needed, addressing academic challenges, behavioral issues, and social-emotional concerns in a caring and responsive manner
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, implementing and enforcing program rules, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures
• Maintain appropriate student-to-staff ratios and supervise students during program activities, transitions, and free time to prevent accidents, conflicts, and incidents
• Conduct regular safety inspections of program facilities, equipment, and outdoor play areas, addressing any hazards or maintenance needs promptly
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding program activities, schedules, and student participation, soliciting feedback and input to enhance program quality and responsiveness
• Collaborate with community organizations, local agencies, and volunteers to expand program offerings, resources, and support services available to students and families
• Foster positive relationships with school staff, administrators, and community advocating for the importance of out-of-school time programming and its impacts on student success
