Job summary

Our Next Energy Inc. (ONE) is seeking a Product Quality Engineer for Battery Pack and BMS programs in Novi, MI. You will lead APQP activities, drive DFMEA/PFMEA, and develop robust control plans to ensure design intents and production quality.

Responsibilities include supporting DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFA reviews, ECR/ECN control, DV/PV planning, and cross-functional collaboration to meet regulatory and customer requirements. 5–10% travel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in product quality engineering, quality engineering, or design/release engineering in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience contributing to DFMEAs and PFMEAs and to the development of Control Plans and work instructions.
• Working knowledge of APQP and the AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma/DMAIC, or similar methodologies).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and product specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing & Operations, Supply Chain & Procurement, and Quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead APQP for pack and BMS programs from gate to milestones.
• Contribute to DFMEA and PFMEA led by Design/Manufacturing Engineers and verify linkage to Control Plans.
• Develop and review prototype, pre-launch, and production Control Plans, process flows, work instructions, and inspection/test instructions.
• Partner with Design & Release Engineering on drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and test limits; support DFM/DFA reviews.
• Support ECRs/ECNs and document revision control.
• Assist DV/PV planning and review test results against requirements.
• Lead 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, and DMAIC problem solving; drive corrective actions into FMEAs and guidelines.
• Establish measurement and capability evidence (MSA, Gage R&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk).
• Prepare PPAP and customer submissions; collaborate with Supplier Quality on components.
• Track quality metrics and drive continuous improvement.
