Job summary

Apple Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Machine Learning Systems Engineer to ship cutting-edge computer vision on Apple devices. You will train, evaluate and deploy purpose-built vision models under strict on-device constraints.

Your work bridges multimodal AI with production systems across iPhone/iPad hardware. You will optimize latency, memory usage and energy efficiency, while collaborating with hardware, software and AI teams to realize scalable CV/ML solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/ML or related field with 3+ years industry experience.
• Proven production-grade CV/ML code for on-device features deployed on embedded platforms.
• Strong Python and C++ programming skills; solid OS fundamentals.
• Hands-on PyTorch experience and edge ML lifecycle know-how.
• Experience with Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) pipelines for on-device tasks.
• Foundational understanding of Multimodal LLMs and ML integration in production.

Responsibilities

• Develop on-device software that bridges multimodal AI models with production systems across Apple devices.
• Optimize on-device inference latency, memory footprint, and computational efficiency of CV/ML models.
• Benchmark, profile, and evaluate power and thermal performance on Apple silicon.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and design robust CV systems.
• Design experiments to understand quality and deployment tradeoffs for on-device models.
• Debug concurrent systems on embedded devices and build new debugging tools.
