Job summary

Apple in Cupertino is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer with strong computer vision foundations to build on-device perception technologies and vision-language models for iPhone, iPad, Mac and more. These models power Apple Intelligence features such as Visual Intelligence and Clean Up in Photos and are designed to ship across devices.

You will design, train and improve CV and VLM models, ensure robustness in real-world data, and define evaluations that guide product decisions, with constraints

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in CS/ML or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong foundations in computer vision and deep learning.
• End-to-end projects with data collection, training and evaluation on real-world visual data.
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
• Experience with generative coding tools.
• Rigorous experimentation with baselines, ablations and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Design, train and improve computer vision and vision-language models for object understanding and recognition.
• Ensure models are robust to real-world conditions across devices.
• Define evaluations that reflect product quality and drive model decisions.
• Design models for on-device constraints (memory, latency, power).
