Brigham Young University-Idaho is seeking an adjunct faculty member to instruct and coordinate Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) student experiences in teaching child development labs in Rexburg, Idaho. FCCLA advising experience is preferred and courses are contracted on a semester-by-semester basis.

The candidate should hold a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education and/or FCS Education; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or FCS Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience teaching or coordinating in early childhood settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and coordinate Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) student experiences in teaching child development labs.
• Oversee lab classroom setup and cleanup procedures.
• Grade and provide feedback on lesson plans each semester.

FCCLA advising experience is preferred. Adjunct faculty member is responsible to model correct procedures and best teaching practices in the classroom; to oversee and teach lab classroom setup and clean up procedures; to grade and provide feedback on multiple lesson plans per semester and return to students in a timely manner; to hold pre-plan and/or consultation meetings with students; to observe lesson implementation and return feedback to student in a timely manner; to provide student orientation training at the beginning of the semester, as assigned; to oversee parent orientation and open house meetings, as assigned; to attend pre-lab and post-lab meetings each lab day.Adjunct faculty member must abide by the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.Adjunct positions are contracted on a semester-by-semester basis.**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or FCS Education required: Master’s degree preferred. Related degrees may be considered with strong professional experience in developmentally appropriate programs serving young children.
