Job summary

Cedar Falls Community School District is seeking reliable, safety-conscious individuals to join our Seasonal Snow Removal Crew for the upcoming winter season. This on-call, part-time role focuses on keeping sidewalks, entrances, and exits clear before school operations begin.

Responsibilities include snow clearing, ice control, emergency clearance, and property care, with shifts typically in early morning hours and potential night/weekend assignments during major storms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience operating snow removal equipment or outdoor grounds maintenance preferred, but training may be provided.
• Must be able to perform heavy physical labor in extreme winter weather.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (if operating district vehicles).
• Must pass state and federal background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Snow Clearing: Operate walk-behind snow blowers, shovels, ice scrapers, and district vehicles/equipment to clear snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, ramps, and stairways.
• Ice Control: Apply ice-melt, salt, and sand to high-traffic pedestrian zones to prevent slips and falls.
• Emergency Clearance: Ensure emergency exit doors, fire hydrants, and bus loading zones are clear and accessible.
• Property Care: Clear snow to protect turf, curbs, landscaping, and school property.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety guidelines, wear PPE, and report hazards or malfunctions.
