Job summary

Maryvale is seeking a Resident Advisor to support residents in a 24-hour program. Job description

Resident Advisors report directly to the Housing Supervisor and are responsible for the wellbeing of the residents in the program during their respective shift(s). The Resident Advisor supervises resident activities, interacts with residents and staff in a positive and courteous manner, and ensures a safe environment for the residents at the facility. The individual in this position will be evaluated on his/her skills and conduct as they apply to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Agency.

Administrative Responsibilities

Implement and uphold the agency’s philosophy, policies, and procedures under the direction of the Housing Supervisor.

Maintain all residential log binders with accurate, current, and real-time information.

Complete, file, and document incident reports in both physical files and the designated online database system.

Update resident databases with daily admissions and exits, bed assignment changes, and other required information.

Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Program Responsibilities

Assist in identifying housing maintenance needs and help coordinate unit cleaning and upkeep as necessary.

Ensure residents maintain their housing units in a safe, clean, and healthy condition.

Conduct scheduled resident accountability checks and help maintain the security of the premises throughout each shift.

Maintain clear communication between shifts regarding daily operations and resident needs.

Monitor resident activities in common areas to promote safety and community well-being.

Support residents in understanding and adhering to program and house rules.

Provide guidance and advocacy regarding rule violations and help residents identify and implement positive behavioral changes.

Conduct and document nightly wellness checks.

Record resident concerns, incidents, and observations in the designated database and maintain required shift reports.

Utilize de-escalation techniques to assist residents in maintaining compliance with site guidelines and resolving conflicts.

Communicate resident concerns, incidents, and updates to appropriate staff members to ensure continuity of care.

Maintain accurate resident records and prepare daily, nightly, and monthly occupancy and attendance reports.

Encourage residents to seek assistance from their assigned case managers when health, wellness, or personal support needs are identified.

Provide crisis intervention services, including emotional support, problem-solving assistance, meeting immediate needs when possible, and contacting emergency or psychiatric services when necessary.

Review and respond to email communications at the beginning and end of each shift.

Complete all meal-related responsibilities to ensure readiness for the incoming shift.

Perform light cleaning and maintenance of common areas as needed.

Report facility maintenance issues, equipment concerns, safety hazards, and security risks to appropriate staff.

Attend required staff meetings and participate in job-related training opportunities.

Be available for occasional work-related communications from supervisors regarding schedule changes when off duty.

Build and maintain professional, respectful relationships with residents while observing appropriate boundaries and protecting client confidentiality.

Provide limited supervision of residents’ children as required to support program operations, resident participation in mandatory meetings, completion of essential household responsibilities, and other program-approved needs

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds

Visual abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
