Job summary

The City of Alexandria is hiring a Gas System Technician to install, inspect, maintain, test and repair gas equipment. The role also involves monitoring gas pressure/volume and coordinating with SCADA operators; the position requires 24-hour call responsibility.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience and a valid Louisiana driver’s license; certification requirements with OPS must be met within six months of hire. 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 3 years in testing, maintenance, and repair of regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters and SCADA equipment.
• Valid driver’s license; must obtain Louisiana driver license on appointment and maintain it.
• Must obtain Office of Pipeline Safety certifications within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, tests, repairs, adjusts, and inspects regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters, and stations; inspects contractors' work on regulator stations.
• Reads and interprets monthly charts and reports; computes bills.
• Prepares and processes necessary paperwork and reports per department policies.
• Receives calls and prepares work orders.
• Coordinates field work or troubleshooting with SCADA System Operators on the SCADA system.
