Job summary

Qualdoc in Richmond, VA seeks an experienced Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on trucks, trailers, cranes, and other machinery. Requires 5+ years in heavy equipment, plus hydraulics/electronics/small engine repair, and a valid driver’s license. 24/7 emergency availability and up to 50% travel are expected.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and teamwork across maintenance projects with the Shop Foreman and other technicians.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of maintenance experience with heavy equipment, trailers, and/or cranes.
Two additional technical areas such as hydraulics, electronics, or small engine repair.
High school diploma or GED and diesel tech training.
Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, cranes, and other motorized machinery.
Review daily repair assignments and priorities with the Shop Foreman.
Prepare tools, parts, and materials to minimize downtime.
Document all completed work with mileage, hours, and repair details.
Communicate urgent repair needs to the Shop Foreman for scheduling.
Follow safety procedures and keep areas clean and organized.
Work with other technicians to complete projects efficiently.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
