Job summary

Easterseals Southern California, Inc. seeks a Custodian to maintain a clean, sanitary environment at its Child Development Centers. Under supervision, you will perform custodial duties across interior spaces and adjunct exterior areas to ensure a safe, orderly environment for ESSC associates, participants, and guests.

Required: High School diploma, pediatric CPR and first aid, and a Food handler's certificate, plus one year custodial experience. Starting pay range is $20/hr - $22.59/hr as stated.

Qualifications

• Requires California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training and Pesticide Safety Training (Healthy Schools Act).
• Must have sex offender index clearance.
• Able to understand directions and follow them accurately.
• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift 10 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Must pass post-offer physical examination and TB test.
• Immunizations as required by CA for centers and staff.
• Criminal record/fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties for assigned Child Development Center(s) and adjacent exterior areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, wash walls/windows, dust surfaces, and clean/restock restrooms.
• Remove trash and maintain supply inventories; report repairs or hazards.
• Follow health and safety regulations; ensure clean, sanitary environments.
• Others duties as assigned by supervisor.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties for assigned Child Development Center(s), inclusive of all interior space and adjunct exterior property to maintain a clean, orderly, and comfortable environment for ESSC associates, participants, and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Maintains administrative, eating, and child activity areas in clean, sanitary, and orderly conditions. Sweeps and mops floors, vacuums carpets, washes walls and windows, dusts desks, counter tops, furniture, and blinds. Keeps facility free of trash by emptying trash receptacles, and replacing lining of trash cans throughout the facility. Regularly cleans and disinfects all restrooms, including toilets and sinks. Removes debris from sidewalk/adjunct exterior area. Follows health and safety regulations of Title 22 Community Care Licensing at all times. Notifies management of need for repairs, safety concerns or hazards. Restocks cleaning supplies by placing supply order with supervisor to maintain adequate inventory levels at all times. Stores and organizes cleaning supply deliveries as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Typically requires High School diploma. Must possess and maintain current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR, first aid. Food handler's certificate.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of custodial or housekeeping work experience in a hospital, childcare, preschool or other licensed facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training and Pesticide Safety Training (per Healthy Schools Act) prior to beginning work.
• Must have sex offender index clearance.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, lift, move, and carry 10 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Also possess fine manual dexterity, can push, pull, talk/hear, with near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
• Possess physical stamina.
• Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test.
• Ability to provide any/all current immunizations as required by the State of California for child development centers and staff.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements.
• Ability to travel locally up to 10% of time with reliable transportation, maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, and maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
• Must pass all drug testing required by ESSC.
